The 24 hour news cycle has officially killed the Fourth Estate.
Seriously, if there is, tell us in the comments. I’m sick of the exploitation, just give me the damn news.
I gave up on local news about 10 years ago after a baby died in a parked car and the reporter decided to throw an oversized thermometer in a car during the day to show how bad it was.
Fox is propaganda, and CNN lost me a couple years ago. Can’t remember the exact incident, maybe Terry Schaivo. This week is just obnoxious and degrading, and with all the TVs all over coffee shops and airports, it’s inescapable.

One Reply to “Is There Any News Channel Worth Watching Anymore?”
We talked about this the other day. 24 hour news does not provide value, or much anyway. These news stations have become nothing but continuous tabloids that occasionally catch a bone or provide some decent content.
They also seem to add to the isolation of the American people from the rest of the world. Sure we are a big country but international events are important and we are being affected by them on a daily basis. One of the biggest gripes non-US citizens have with us is that we think that everything revolves around us. Sure, we have a society and we are going to gravitate to our own opinions and styles, but so does the rest of the world. We should be looking at the things that are affecting them as well as the things that are affecting us at home.
Although we cannot outlaw them, we can choose to not watch. BBC World or even CNN International are better choices than any of the 24 hour news stations.
Go forth and do good things,
